Here is what Ray Riegert had to say about the Sea Sprite Motel and Apartments in his books "Hidden Southern California" and "Hidden Coast of California

"The best bargain in lodging in the South Bay is found at the Sea Sprite Motel and Apartments. Located right on the beach, this multibuilding complex offers oceanview rooms with kitchenettes at moderate to deluxe prices. The accommodations are tidy, well furnished, and fairly attractive. There is a swimming pool and sundeck overlooking the beach. The central shopping district is just two blocks away, making the location hard to match. You can also rent suites at deluxe prices or a two-bedroom beach cottage at an ultra-deluxe price. Be sure to ask for an ocean view room in one of the beachfront buildings."

Here is what Ray Riegert had to say about Hermosa Beach in his books "Hidden Southern California" and "Hidden Coast of California"

"One of the great beaches of Southern California, this is a very, very wide (and very, very white) sand beach extending the entire length of Hermosa Beach. Two miles of pearly sand are only part of the attraction. There's also The Strand, a pedestrian lane that runs the length of the beach; Pier Avenue, and adjacent street lined with interesting shops; a quarter mile fishing pier; and a local community known for its artistic creativity. Personally, if I were beach, I would head in this direction. The swimming is good and the surfing is very good around the pier and all along the beach. Lifeguards are on duty, and facilities include restrooms, volleyball courts, and a playground."
